U.S. Women’s Open Championship Qualifying Results
from Carolina Trace Country Club, Sanford, NC
 
SANFORD, N.C. (May 25, 2016) -- Final results from U.S. Women’s Open Championship Qualifying hosted by Carolina Trace Country Club on the Lake Course in Sanford, N.C. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 (6473 yards, par 36-36--72, Course/Slope Rating:77.6/140).
 
Two qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site. 
 
Lauren Stephenson, of Lexington, S.C. and Paula Hurtado of Colombia each carded a two-over-par 146 to earn co-medalist honors. Stephenson also earned low amateur honors.
 
Lauren Doughtie of Suffolk, V.A. and Frida Gustafsson Spang of Greenville, N.C. are the alternates.
 
Sectional qualifying, conducted over 36 holes at 25 sites, started on Monday, May 9 and will conclude on Friday, June 3. Sectional qualifiers will be held across the United States, the Republic of Korea, England, China and Japan. The championship proper will be held at CordeValle in San Martin, C.A. on July 7-10.
 
This qualifier was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association on behalf of the United States Golf Association.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
The CGA annually conducts 43 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. It also runs over 140 One-Day (net and gross) events and qualifying for USGA national championships. The CGF has distributed more than $1,500,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
