15th Carolinas Parent-Child Championship
to be held at Longleaf Country Club
 in Southern Pines, NC on July 27, 2012

West End, NC (5/23/12) - Longleaf Country Club has been selected to host the 15th Carolinas Parent-Child Championship to be be played on Friday, July 27, 2012. The Carolinas Parent-Child Championship has been played at Longleaf CC every year for the past 6 years (2006-11).

Entries open on Monday, May 28th. Entry is open to any team comprised of a parent and child, in any gender combination excluding male-male. Step-parents and grandparents are allowed. At least one member of each team must be a legal resident of one of the Carolinas, be a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA), have a current USGA handicap index® at a CGA member club or is a golf professional employed at a CGA member club.

The 2011 Parent-Child Champions were the father-daughter team of Gary and Elizabeth Robinson of Fayetteville, NC. In carding a 5-under par 67 they ties the Championship scoring record set by two teams in 2007, Gary & Katie Garahan of Rock Hill, SC and Gary Robinson and Lauren Veauthier of Faytetteville, NC.

Handicap Index Limit: None

Eligibility: Entry is open to any team comprised of a parent and child, in any gender combination excluding male-male. Step-parents and grandparents are allowed. At least one member of each team must be a legal resident of one of the Carolinas, be a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA), have a current USGA handicap index® at a CGA member club or is a golf professional employed at a CGA member club.

A team is eligible if one partner is an amateur member of a CGA member club or if one partner is a golf professional employed by a CGA member club. Pro-Pro teams and in-laws are NOT eligible.

The minimum age for entry is eight years old as of July 27, 2012.

Residency Criteria: At least one team member must be a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina.

Championship Format: 18 holes of modified alternate shot stroke play.
