2012 CGA One-Day Tournament Format and Rules

Eligibility

Entry is open to any amateur golfer who is a member of a club that is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has a current USGA handicap index at a CGA member club. The minimum age for entry is 13 years as of the tournament date. A player with more than one handicap index must use the lowest current index. Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the CGA or the host club.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

Format and Rules (New for 2012)

USGA Rules of Golf govern play. 18 holes of individual stroke play, gross and net scores. 100% course handicap.  Field divided into five divisions based upon handicap index, gender and age. Players may choose to compete in any division in which they are eligible. Men A: 7.9 index or less (6500-6800 yards); Men B (no index restriction, 5900-6200 yards); Senior Men (age 55+, 5700-6000 yards); Super Senior Men (age 65+, 5500-5800); Women (all ages, 5000-5400 yards). Note that yardage may vary based upon tournament site. A minimum of four entries is required to create a division. Otherwise, divisions are combined together using the appropriate handicap adjustment for the difference in course ratings. Division changes are not allowed after entries close.

The CGA monitors handicap score posting and reserves the right to adjust course handicaps and/or withhold prizes for competitors whose handicaps are considered unrealistic or who have participated in a disproportionate share of CGA prize distributions. Notice to Players rules sheet is available at www.carolinasgolf.org. Players should check-in with CGA tournament director prior to play to receive official score card and tournament information. CGA will automatically post tournament scores for participants back to their home club handicap.

Entries

(New for 2012) Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Alternates are ranked in the order which entries are received. Players may enter as an individual or in groups of two, three or four. Entry fee is $60.00 per individual. All player information must be filled out completely. Incomplete or illegible entries will be returned. Group of two, three or four player substitutions are allowed at registration. Substitute players must present a current USGA handicap index® from a CGA member club, no more than 30 days old from the tournament date, to the official-in-charge at registration.

Tournament schedule, open/close dates, number of available tournament spots at each site and online tournament registration are available at www.carolinasgolf.org. Online registration opens at 12:00am midnight on the open date. Mail or walk-in applications are processed as time permits without any guarantees regarding entry order. Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the tournament, by the Carolinas Golf Association. The CGA is not responsible for errors or delays made by any mail or delivery courier. Fax, e-mail, telephone, late, illegible or incomplete entries are not accepted. A check for the appropriate entry fee payable to the Carolinas Golf Association must accompany each entry form.

When One-Day Tournaments are scheduled on consecutive days, players entering both events must submit one application with the appropriate entry fee. Players may register for only one of the consecutive tournaments; however priority in acceptance is given to those who enter both tournaments. Confirmation of acceptance is sent when entry status is determined. Tee time requests are not accepted. Players who are a "No Show" (DNS) or “No Card” (NC) will be suspended from the next four CGA one-day tournaments that they are eligible for including the Tournament of Champions. The suspension will carry forward between seasons if necessary.

Refund Policy

Open Date to Close Date: Full refund minus $25.00 administrative fee per individual if entry accepted into tournament.

Day after Close Date to Day Prior to Tournament Date: Full refund minus 50% administrative fee per individual (maximum of $50.00) refunded regardless of reason if entry accepted into tournament.

Withdraw on Tournament Date: No refund for any reason.

Alternates not gaining entry into the tournament receive a full refund.

Prizes and Merchandise

Prizes are awarded for low gross scores and low net scores in each division. The low gross and low net winner from each flight is eligible for the One-Day Tournament of Champions. The number of net prizes is determined by the number of entries in each flight. Ties are broken on the score card using the USGA recommended method. A player is disqualified if his net score beats the course rating by eight or more strokes and beats the next best net score in their division by four or more strokes.

The CGA is not responsible for any unclaimed or unredeemed merchandise certificates after a tournament play date. It is the player’s responsibility to claim or redeem a certificate or golf shop credit prior to leaving a tournament site. The CGA will not replace any lost or unclaimed merchandise certificates/gift cards after a tournament is played.

Cart Fees, Caddies and Spectators

Cart and range fee is included in the entry fee. Cart use is mandatory. Caddies are not allowed. Spectators are welcome at CGA one-day tournaments. However spectator carts are not allowed except as provided in the CGA Tournament Manual (available online at www.carolinasgolf.org).
