Sanford, NC - Cynthia Curry of Charlotte, NC won the 2nd Carolinas Senior

Women's Championship at Carolina Trace Country Club's Lake Course. Curry, a

12-time club champion, finished two strokes ahead of Clate Aydlett of

Elizabeth City, NC and five ahead of Maureen O'Brien of Myrtle Beach, SC.

"I have been working out twice a week since January," said Curry. "I feel

like that really helped my game and my confidence. My trainer will be glad to

hear I won!"

Curry stumbled with a 12-over par 84 in the final round but no other players

were able take advantage of the opportunity.

Curry was the 1996 North Carolina Senior Women's champion.

The championship is open to women golfers who are age 5o and over and who

reside in the Carolinas. The event is conducted by the Carolinas Golf

Association.
