MIDLOTHIAN, VA -- The Carolinas girls split eight singles matches to hang on and win the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Girls challenge at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia by a 9-7 margin.

The Saturday team formats saw the Carolinas win both the alternate shot and four ball results by 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 margins to gain a 5-3 margin going into Sunday. Winning both matches on Saturday were the team of Ann Laney of Charlotte, NC and Lauren Hunt of Little River, SC, while Jenny Suh of Fairfax, VA and Sarah O'Neill of Potomac, MD won both their Saturday matches.

This competition is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association, the Virginia State Women's Golf Association and the Maryland Women's Golf Association.
