PINEHURST, NC-- A second day charge in the singles lifted the Virginia/Maryland squad to a 8.5-7.5 victory in the Carolinas versus Virginia/Maryland Girls Team Matches at Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst.

Trailing after the team format matches by a 4.5-3.5 margin, the Virginia/Maryland side won five of the first six matches to clinch the victory, rendering the last two matches, both won by the Carolinas, as an afterthought.

With the Virginia/Maryland win, the match series is now tied, 1-1. The matches will reprise next summer, with Virginia as host.

The girls team matches are an effort of the Carolinas Golf Association, the Virginia State Golf Association and the Maryland State Golf Association.
