Whispering Pines, NC - Sydney Crane of Jamestown, NC darted her final iron approach shot nine inches from the hole on the 371 yard par 4 hole, enabling father Tom, also of Jamestown a tap in birdie and a win in the 8th Parent-Child Championship at the Country Club of Whispering Pines East course.

The Cranes edged defending champion Louise and Keith Kepley by one.

The format calls for a modified alternate shot in which both players tee off on each hole then alternate shots with the selected ball.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
