Pinehurst, NC - The Virginias squad edged the Carolinas in both the seniors and regular singles matches to add to their first-day one point lead to capture the Captain's Putter Matches at Forest Creek Golf Club. The event was contested on the North course on the first day and the South course on the second day.
Leading the Virginias contingent was John Duty and Bryan Myers who won the maximum three points for their team. Paul Simson was the lone 3 pointer for the Carolinas.
Captained by Steve Smith, the Virginias broke a Carolinas two-year winning streak.
This event is conducted jointly by the Carolinas Golf Association, the West Virginia Golf Association and the Virginia State Golf Association.
The matches return to West Virginia in 2012 for only the second time in match's history. The event will return to the original West Virginia site of Glade Springs in Daniel, WV.
