CAMDEN, SC – Final round results of the 1st Super Senior Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Camden Country Club in Camden, SC on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 (5799 yards, par 35-35—70, 69.1/125).
Ernie Newton of High Point, NC & Jim Pridgen of Jamestown, NC carded a second consecutive round of five-under 65 to win the inaugural Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship at Camden Country Club. Their 10-under 130 was six shots clear of Mike Sprouts of Newton, NC & John Green of Wallace, NC.
“We played better than we ought to have on this tough golf course,” stated Newton. “Jim got up and down when we needed it today and I was able to make a few birdies.” Newton’s three birdies and an eagle led their charge to the title.
“We just had fun and that’s what this game is all about,” Pridgen noted.
The top 15 teams received merchandise and earned an exemption into next year’s championship.
The Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship is open to male amateurs age 65 and over, members of a CGA member club and residents of North Carolina or South Carolina.
