Culler and Gallman Win 57th Carolinas Four-Ball Championship
Camden, SC (5/11/08) - USC-Upstate golfing teammates
Baxter Culler of Hartsville, SC and Josh Gallman of Gaffney, SC defeated
Harrison Moore of Orangeburg, SC and Allen Koon of Anderson, SC to win the
Carolinas Four-Ball Championship by a slim one-up margin at Camden Country
Club. Culler and Gallman never trailed in the match although Gallman had to
convert an uphill four-foot par putt on the 18th hole to secure the one-up

WEST END, NC (5/11/08) - Paul Simson will be
shooting for a third straight North Carolina Senior Championship when
the 54-hole Carolinas Golf Association competition is played at
Cedarwood Country Club in Charlotte May 13-15. Simson, a 57-year-old
Raleigh insurance executive who was the CGA's Player of the Year in 1998
and 2005 and Senior Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007, will also be
chasing his 17th Carolinas Golf Association championship...N.C.

-- Austin Ernst of Seneca, SC captured her second career Carolinas
junior championship winning the 3rd Vicki DiSantis Girls’
Championship by six shots finishing the 36 hole contest at even par
142. Ernst, a high school sophomore, finished the junior event with
round of two under par 69 on the 5954 yards, par 71 layout at Pine

Robert Godfrey Victorious at 28th Carolinas Mid-Amateur Championship
GREENVILLE, SC (4/20/08) – Robert Godfrey, 34, of Seneca, SC posted a
two-under par 70 to win the Carolinas Mid-Amateur Championship by two
strokes over Greenville Country Club member Lee Palms of Greenville, SC.
Godfrey, who operates a driving range, carded a double bogey six on the
446-yard par four opening hole. But he chipped away at that deficit
throughout the round by holing four birdies with the last one holed at the

Over $100,000 To Various Golf Programs in the Carolinas

The Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) executive committee has awarded,
through the Carolinas Golf Foundation (CGF), $102,000 for 2008 projects.
The CGA administers the CGF, absorbs CGF administrative costs and
approves CGF activities. Monies are donated to various junior golf,
women’s golf and turfgrass scholarships and turfgrass projects in the
Carolinas. Since its inception in 1977, the CGF has donated over
$1,000,000 to support golf in the Carolinas...Press
