2010 Carolinas Interclub “Final Four” (Teams) Announcement

West End, N.C. - The “Final Four” teams are set to compete for the 2010 CGA Carolinas Interclub Match Play Championship November 13th and 14th at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club  in Southern Pines, NC.

The course will measure approximately 6,528 yards and play to a par of 72 for this event.

Semifinal matches will be played on Saturday (Nov. 13) and will pit the 2008 champions from Rock Hill Country Club (Rock Hill, SC) against Raintree Country Club #2 (Charlotte, NC), while 2009 runner-up Coharie Country Club (Clinton, NC) will return to play The Preserve at Jordan Lake (Chapel Hill, NC) in the other semifinal match-up.

Sixteen players from each club will compete at four-ball and singles match play with the most cumulative points determining the winner of each match. The winners will face off on Sunday (Nov. 14) for the championship.

A total of 63 clubs from both North and South Carolina began regular season competition in May with the top two clubs from each group earning the right to advance to the match play post season playoffs which began September 1.

In last year’s championship, River Hills Country Club (Lake Wylie, SC) defeated Coharie Country Club (Clinton, NC) at the Donald Ross designed Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. River Hills was narrowly defeated (19-17) in this year’s quarterfinals by Raintree CC.

The Carolinas Interclub Team Matches was founded in 1996 by Ben Payne of Greensboro, NC. The Carolinas Golf Association assumed responsibility of the event in 2006 as an additional service to its member clubs.

The CGA is a non-profit service organization founded in 1909, which consists of over 700 member clubs representing approximately 170,000 golfers in North Carolina and South Carolina.
