Jim and Peyton Gallagher Win the Father-Son Championship in Playoff on 4th Hole
Pinehurst, NC-- Final results of the 37th Father-Son Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Pinewild Country Club's Holly Course (6,550 yards, par 72) in Pinehurst, NC on Friday, July 25.
Jim and Peyton Gallagher of Charlotte, NC made a four feet birdie on the 4th playoff hole to defeat T.D. and Thomas Todd of Laurens, SC and win the 37th Carolinas Father-Son Championship at Pinewild Country Club's Holly Course in Pinehurst, NC.
Jim Gallagher, 49 years old and an executive with Bank of America's private banking branch, and Peyton Gallagher, 20 years old and a rising junior at Davidson College in Davidson, NC fired a five-under par 67 to get into the playoff with the Todd's. Both teams had chances to win the championship in the playoff but it took a birdie on the fourth playoff hole by Peyton Gallagher to seal the victory.
Defending champions Paul and Philip Simson of Raleigh, NC finished with a two-under par 70 and tied for fifth place.
Pinewild Country Club was the championship site as four other courses in the Pinehurst area hosted the event as well (Beacon Ridge Golf and Country Club, Seven Lakes, NC; Legacy Golf Links, Aberdeen, NC; Club at Longleaf, Southern Pines, NC; Foxfire Resort and Country Club, Foxfire Village, NC). The Carolinas Father-Son Championship, a modified alternate shot event, annually attracts more than 400 teams from all across the Carolinas. Teams are flighted by handicap index and assigned to a site based upon their team handicap index.
