GROVE AND BOSWELL DO IT AGAIN!

MURRELLS INLET, NC -- Defending champions Ronnie Grove of Raleigh, NC and Larry Boswell of Jamestown, NC birdied the first hole to gain a share of the lead en route to a final round 68 and victory in the Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship at Wachesaw Plantation Golf Club in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Thirty-six hole leaders Marion King of Catawba, NC and Don King of Rock Hill, SC, who gave up their lead for good with consecutive bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes, finished second, six shots behind Boswell and Grove.

The victory marks the third consecutive Carolinas Golf Association team senior event won by Grove and Boswell. The pair also claimed victory in the North Carolina Senior Partners championship last fall at Deep Springs Country Club in Madison, NC. The defense of the title is the first since Bill Cox of Gastonia, NC and Glenn Lassiter of Robbins, NC won in 1995 and 1996.

Former champions Bob Stringer of Blythewood, SC and Leroy Rabon of Chapin, SC finished in a tie for fifth place at 4-under par 212.

With the victory, Grove and Boswell claim spots on the Carolinas team that will take on a team from the Virginias in the annual renewal of the Carolinas-Virginias Team Matches this fall.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
