Teams Announces for 2004 Tar Heel Cup Matches
Pinehurst, NC - Teams have been announced for the 10th Tar Heel Cup matches at Pinehurst #8 on April 5, 2004.
The North Carolina Golf Professionals will be represented by Jeff Lankford, Bob Boyd, Jeff Avant, Gus Ulrich, Kelly Mitchum, Bryan Sullivan, Kent Stauffer and Mike Taylor.
The North Carolina Amateurs will be represented by William McGirt, Greg Powell, Lex Alexander, Mitch Adams, Paul Simson, Greg Earnhardt, David Strawn and Keith Harris.
The professionals have the winning record at 7-2 over the amateurs in this event.
The Tar Heel Cup Matches pit eight amateurs against eight professionals from North Carolina in a 36-hole match play format. Scoring is based on a Nassau format with one point awarded for the front nine the back nine and the overall 18 holes. Each side can win 3 points in each match.
The Tar Heel Cup matches are conducted jointly by the Carolinas Golf Association and the Carolinas Professional Golfers Association.
