COLUMBIA, SC—Karen Ferree of Hilton Head, SC fired a final round 79 to capture the Carolinas Women’s Senior Championship at Forest Lake Club in Columbia, SC. Ferree, who is the 2001 and 2002 Carolinas Golf Association Senior player of the year, scored a seven shot victory over Clate Aydlette of Elizabeth City and 2001 champion Patty Moore of Charlotte.

Barbara Young, the defending champion, was fourth at 163. Ferree lead by a shot over Moore after the first round with a 76. Young made a front nine bid, getting to within two at the turn, but a triple bogey on the 12^th hole ending her hopes of defending her title. Ferree never had less than a 6-shot lead over the final four holes and cruised to her first CGA individual title.

Ann Potts of Columbia, SC won the Super Senior division with a two-day total of 172, winning over a trio of players at 173. The super senior division played a shortened course.
