PATTY MOORE OF CHARLOTTE WINS 3RD CGA TITLE OF 2004

MORGANTON, NC--Final round results of the 1st North Carolina Senior Women's Amateur Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club in Morganton, NC on Wednesday, September 29. (5402 yards, par 36-36--72).

Patty Moore of Charlotte wins her third CGA championship in 2004. Moore shot an even par round of 72 to fend off Dianne Yelovich of Pinehurst by one stroke. "I am very honored to win the 1st Annual NC Women's Senior Amateur Championship here at Mimosa. This is a classic golf course that everyone should have the joy of playing at least once," Moore said during her acceptance speech.

Yelovich, a former ski instructor, shot the only sub-par round today on the newly renovated Donald Ross design. Both Moore and Yelovich have qualified for the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur and will be heading to California in a few weeks.

Kathy Bounds of Cary was one shot-back of the lead going into today's round. She had four birdies and one eagle but two triple-bogeys took her out of contention.

In the super senior division, Gloria Anthony of Summerfield shot a two day total of 161 to beat Peggy Hall of Belmont by two strokes. Competitors in the Super Senior division play a shorter course.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
