HANNON AND PATTI WIN 36TH CAROLINAS SENIOR FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN PLAYOFF
Lexington, N.C. - Vic Hannon of Camden, SC and Jim Patti of Bluffton, SC birdied the third playoff hole Thursday to claim the 36th Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship at Sapona Country Cub in Lexington, NC. Patti sank a 18-foot downhill putt to defeat first and second-round leaders David Hambly of Bluffton, S.C. and Bob Collar of Hilton Head, S.C. Hannon and Patti fired the low round of the day, a six-under par 65 for a 200 total and waited for the last players to finish.
Hannon and Patti watched as Hambly and Collar birdied the last regulation hole to tie. Hambly stopped his eagle putt less than a foot from the hole. Hambly and Collar shot a closing 69, two under par.
Guy Smith and Gerry Ferguson from the host club finished third, one shot behind, after closing with 68.
Defending champions Larry Boswell of Jamestown, N.C. and Ronnie Grove of Raleigh, N.C. finished in fifth place at 69--203, three strokes off the pace.
