Patty Moore Claims Her Second Carolinas Women's Senior Championship
Charlotte, NC—Carmel Country Club member, Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC, captured the 6th Carolinas Women’s Senior Championship on the first playoff hole. The win is Moore’s second Carolinas Women’s Senior title. She won the 2001 championship at Bryan Park Golf Club in Brown Summit, NC.
"It was an exciting finish," Moore commented. Moore three-putted the 18th hole to still shoot the tournament low round of even par 72--148. Playing in the final group, Sage came to the 18th hole holding a one-stroke lead. But a bogey at the final hole caused her to slip into a three-way tie with Moore and Ferree at 148. Ferree made par at the 18th to get her into the playoff.
On the first playoff hole, Moore was the only player to make a par on the 436-yard par five 16th while Ferree made a bogey six and Sage a double bogey seven.
"It was hard that the championship was on my home course" stated Moore. "But I am glad that it was at my home course." Moore is the number one ranked senior woman amateur in the Carolinas.
In the super senior division, Jessie Finucan of Summerville, SC won the title by eight strokes over Linda Smythe of Waynesville, NC.
