Starting Time

Please check the enclosed pairing sheet for your first round starting time on Thursday, July 22nd. The qualifier will be conducted on Carmel Country Club's South Course. Since there is no formal registration at Carmel Country Club, please be at your assigned tee time five minutes prior to receive all player information. Play will begin from the 1st tee at 8:00 a.m.

18-Hole Cut

After the first round, the field will be cut to the low 39 scores plus ties and anyone within 8 strokes of the lead. The field will be re-paired for Friday's final round.

Qualifying Spots

TBA qualifying spots and 4 alternate positions available at this site. There are 131 competitors in the field. The number of qualifying spots will be updated at www.carolinasgolf.org as soon as we have received the allocation from the USGA.

USGA Policies

The USGA prohibits the use of cellular phones during qualifying and championship rounds. Remember that sectional qualifying is 36 holes, that you must walk in all phases of the championship and that you are responsible for providing your own caddie/cart driver. Caddies will NOT be available at Carmel C.C. You may carry your own bag during the qualifying round. Caddies will be allowed to rent a cart for the qualifying round at this site. However, caddies may have to share carts during the qualifying round. Also, the USGA does not allow spectator carts during qualifying rounds or the championship proper. Traditional metal spikes are not allowed at Carmel C.C. The penalty for non-compliance is disqualification. The "One-Ball" rule will be in effect.

Locker Room: Players will have access to the men's locker room.

Dress Code: Shorts must be Bermuda-length and shirts must have a collar. No denim.

Practice Round and Cart Fees

You are entitled to one complimentary practice round (not including mandatory $20 cart fee) on Wednesday, July 21. You must call the Carmel C.C. golf shop one week prior to schedule a practice round. There is a mandatory $20.00 cart fee for the practice round. Make sure to identify yourself as a U.S. Amateur Championship qualifying participant when calling. Competitors are allowed to ride in carts during practice rounds. Play the Gold tees during your practice round except on hole #2 play the White tee. Cart fee for caddies/cart drivers on July 22-23 is $20.00 per round. Range balls are complimentary for practice and qualifying rounds. Make sure to check-in with the golf shop when you arrive and pay any necessary fees! Carmel Country Club accepts cash, MasterCard and Visa for cart fees and golf shop purchases. Cash only for food and beverage.

Lodging is available at the Holiday Inn Express-Pineville (704-341-1190) located at Exit 64 off I-485 in Pineville (Hwy 51 South/Pineville-Matthews Rd.). Hotel is approximately 15 minutes from Carmel Country Club. A rate of $60.00 plus tax per night is offered online at www.holiday-inn.com.

Qualifying Schedule

Wednesday, July 21 Course open for practice. Must call golf shop in advance to schedule a practice round tee time.

Thursday, July 22 First Round: 18 holes of stroke play. Field will be cut to low 39 scores plus and anyone within 8 strokes of the lead.

Friday, July 23 Final Round: 18 holes of stroke play. Playoffs for qualifying spots and alternates immediately following play. Players are responsible for making themselves available.

Pace of Play Policy

A player who is discovered taking more than 40 seconds is subject to a warning and will be so advised. The player will be notified that exceeding 40 seconds on one more occasion will result in a penalty of one stroke. A third violation will result in a two-stroke penalty, followed by disqualification. A player’s time to play begins when he has had a reasonable opportunity to reach his ball and when it is the player’s turn to play and can do so without interference or distraction. Penalties are applied individually, but more than one competitor in a group may be penalized.
