Carolinas Wins 60th Carolinas-Virginias Team Matches

Carolinas first victory since 2001

Myrtle Beach, SC - The Carolinas regained the "Captain’s Putter" with an outstanding performance from the Regulars at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

Powered by a strong 12.5 to 3.5 win, the regulars offset a Carolinas Senior one-point deficit on the final day to win by a 27.5 to 20.5 margin.

"I am really proud of the way the regulars came through for us today," said Captain Paul Simson of Raleigh, NC. "It was an outstanding performance which made all the difference."

Play is based on a Ryder-Cup style format with each match worth one point.

Halved matches earn a half point each.

Sunday’s format was played at Singles Match Play.

The event is one of the oldest team events in the country. The best 24 amateurs from North and South Carolina compete against their counterparts from Virginia and West Virginia. 16 regulars and eight seniors represent each team.

The event is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
