ROBERT KULP OF WINSTON-SALEM SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDS NORTH CAROLINA SENIOR TITLE
Mooresville, NC - Bob Kulp of Winston-Salem fired a final-round 68 to claim the 20th North Carolina Senior Championship at The Point Lake and Golf Club. Kulp finsihed at five-under par 211 to win his second N.C. Senior title in as many years. Bob Desjardins of Matthews finsihed four strokes back in second place. Second-round leader David Strawn of Charlotte stumbled to a final-round 76 and finished alone in fourth at 217.
Kulp, a dentist, gave credit to his new wife Connie and to a new book, Fearless Golf.
"Connie kept me calm all day out there," said the newlywed Kulp. "She settled me down by talking to me duruing the round."
Kulp also credits a new book, Fearless Golf.
"The book explains how a golfer should play each shot and not worry about what the end result will be," said the 58 year-old Kulp. "The book says It is important to keep your ego out of your game."
This win is Kulp’s third CGA senior win in three years. He is a former winner of the Carolinas Senior Championship.
The North Carolina Senior Championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
