MARK AND BRIAN GAULEY WINS 11TH N.C. FOUR-BALL ON THIRD PLAYOFF HOLE

Foxfire Village, NC – Final round results of the 11th North Carolina Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Foxfire Golf and Country Club, East and West Courses, in Foxfire Village, NC on Sunday, October 29, 2006. (West Course (W) 6743 yards, par 36-36—72/East Course (E) 6820 yards, par 36-36—72).

Brothers Mark Gauley, 30, of Raleigh and Brian Gauley, 36, of Wake Forest fired a final round ten-under par 62 to tie defending champions John Finster of Wake Forest and Danny Gurley of Chapel Hill after 54 holes at 20-under par 196 total. Gauley and Gauley combined for nine birdies, an eagle and one bogey. Finster and Gurley posted a six-under par 66 in today’s final round.

The first two playoff holes were halved with pars. Brian Gauley made a birdie on the 419-yard par four third hole to seal the victory.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
