SENIOR PARTNERS TITLE GREENSBORO, NC (8/10/06) – Final round results of the 6th North Carolina Senior Partners Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Greensboro Country Club, Farm course, in Greensboro, NC on Thursday, August 10. (6450 yards, par 36-35—71). Bob Desjardins, a 57 year-old airline pilot from Matthews, and Bill Boles, a 57 year-old dentist from Wilson fired a final round five-under par 66 to win the North Carolina Senior Partners Championship by one-stroke over David Strawn of Charlotte and Logan Jackson of Winston-Salem. Strawn and Jackson held a narrow one-stroke lead heading into the final round. After nine-holes, Desjardins and Boles took a one-stroke lead over Strawn and Jackson into the back nine. Boles birdied the par four 10th hole to take two-stroke lead only to give it back with a bogey by Desjardins on the par five 11th hole. Boles birdied the par four 13th hole to regain a two-stroke advantage. Jackson immediately answered with a birdie at the par four 14th hole to cut the lead back to one. Holes 15 and 16 were halved with a par and a birdie. On the par three 17th hole, Boles once again made birdie to take a two-stroke lead into the final hole. Strawn canned a birdie putt on the par four 18th hole but Boles safely two-putted from 25 feet for par and the championship title. “Bill played really well this entire week,” said Desjardins. “I only made one birdie and couple of par saves today but he (Boles) was the one that did all of the work.” This championship utilized a mixed format with round one played at four-ball stroke play, round two at modified alternate shot and the final round returned to four-ball stroke play.
