WORLEY AND CRAWFORD SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND AT CAROLINAS WOMEN'S 4-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Southern Pines, NC (8/8/07) --- Final round results of the 30th Carolinas Women's Four-Ball championship hosted by Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC on Wednesday, August 8, 2007. Par 36-36--72, 5853 yards.

Defending champions, Blythe Worley of Greenville, NC and Laura Crawford of Lancaster, SC fired a 5-under par 67 to get their name on the Vicki Hillen memorial trophy for another year. Worley who attends the University of South Carolina and Crawford who attends Wake Forest said they left a lot of putts out on the course and didn't play all that well. "I guess we played well together", said Worley. "When one of us had a bad hole the other would pick up

the slack and save the team." Temperatures reached well over the 100 degree mark throughout the day which made for difficult playing condition for most of the players.

Past champions, Lori Teague of Newton, NC and Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC finished in a tie for second place six shots back of the leaders. The hold the tie for most wins as a team in this championship.

This championship is open to women from North and South Carolina and is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.

KEEP A WARY EYE ON MOORE-TEAGUE TANDEM IN CAROLINAS WOMEN'S 4-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

WEST END, NC (8/5/07) Blythe Worley of Greenville, NC and partner Laura Crawford of Lancaster, SC are favored because they are defending champions, but they'll probably keep a wary eye on the group playing just ahead of them in the 30th Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship, which will be played Aug. 7-8 at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC.

Worley and Crawford are scheduled to start at 8:09 a.m. in the opening round, while the foursome with the 8 a.m. tee time includes veterans Patty Moore of Charlotte and Lori Teague of Newton, N.C., who won this Carolinas Golf Association championship in 2004 and 2005.

The veteran Moore, who has been named Carolinas Senior Player of the Year the last three years and Carolinas Woman Player of the Year in 2004, will be shooting for her fifth Carolinas Women's Four-Ball title. She won in 1992 and

1993 with Terrie Foote of Mooresville, NC and then twice with Teague.

Moore and Teague have proven over the years that they are usually contenders.

In addition to all her victories, Moore has finished second five times, while Teague and an assortment of partners finished as runners-up on six occasions prior to her victory with Moore in '04.

A year ago on the Ocean Winds Course at Seabrook Island, SC, Worley and Crawford shot 66-63--129, which matched the all-time low score, to claim a two-stroke victory.

The field for this year's championship consists of 56 teams, with another 15 duos in alternate status.

The 36-hole stroke play championship will be held on the par-72 Donald Ross-designed Mid Pines Course, which will play approximately 5,500 yards. Mid Pines has previously hosted the 2002 Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team Matches, the 2003 Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship, the 2003 N.C. Senior Four-Ball Championship and the 2004, 2005 and 2007 Carolinas Father-Son Championship.

WORLEY AND CRAWFORD ATTEMPT TO DEFEND IN 30TH CAROLINAS WOMEN'S FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

WEST END, NC (7/30/07) Blythe Worley of Greenville, NC and partner Laura Crawford of Lancaster, SC will attempt to defend their title when the the 30th Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship is played Aug. 7-8 at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC.

Worley, the 2003 N.C. Junior champion, and Crawford, the 2001 S.C. Junior winner, scored a two-stroke victory over Dinah Plyler of Chapin, SC and Angela Hill of Charleston, SC a year ago on the Ocean Winds Course at the Seabrook Island Club south of Charleston. Worley and Crawford shot 66-63--129 to equal the tournament record posted by Page and Amber Marsh of Jamestown, NC in 1994. Two-time champions Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC and Lori Teague of Newton, NC came in a distant third, nine strokes off the winning pace.

The veteran Moore, who has been named Senior Player of the Year the last three years and Carolinas Woman Player of the Year in 2004, will be shooting for her fifth Carolinas Women's Four-Ball title. She won in 1992 and 1993 with Terrie Foote of Mooresville, NC and with Teague in 2004 and 2005.

Page Marsh of Jamestown, NC holds the record for most Carolinas Women's Four-Ball titles with six. She won in 1982, 1984 and 1985 with her mother Linda, in 1994 with her sister Amber, in 1998 with Marcy Newton and in 2002 with Karen Ferree.

Marsh is not entered this year.

Worley and Crawford Win 29th Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship Title

Seabrook Island, SC -- Final round results of the 29th Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship hosted by Seabrook Island Club, Ocean Winds Course, Seabrook Island, SC. Par 36-36--72, 5787 yards.

First round leaders, Blythe Worley of Greenville, NC and Laura Crawford of Lancaster, SC capture their first CGA women's four-ball title by two shots over Dinah Plyler of Chapin, SC and Angie Hill of Charleston, SC. The team of Worley-Crawford carded a total of eleven birdies on the day with eight of the teams birdies belonging to Crawford alone. "Laura was putting from everywhere," said her partner Blythe, "We had five birdies within the first six holes. It was unbelievable!" Plyler and Hill also seemed to have hot putters but in the end their 64 wasn't enough to catch the champions. Plyler said, "We were back and forth with each other all day. It got really close on a few holes where we just kept trading birdies with each other, Angie seemed to make everything she looked over."

Two time defending champions Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC and Lori Teague of Newton, NC found themselves nine shots back of the leaders at the end of the day and finished in third place. Any hopes they had of having their name on the trophy yet again was quickly put to rest. During her acceptance speech Worley said, "We are happy to have won this championship, we had a lot of fun and feel that everyone has been very supportive of us. We look forward to returning next year to defend our title."

All competitors were placed into flights after the first round based on score.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association as a benefit to it's 185,000 members.
