Three-Peat for Anthony and Debbie Adams at Carolinas Mixed Team Championship

Sunset Beach, NC (8/31/08) -- Final results of the 3rd Carolinas Mixed Team Championship hosted by Ocean Ridge Plantation, Tiger's Eye Course on Sunday, August 31, 2008.  Par 36-36-72, 6509/5307 yards.

Anthony and Debbie Adams of Asheville, NC successfully defend their Carolinas Mixed-Team Championship title by defeating Kevin Atamian and Katie Brenny of Raleigh, NC on the second hole of sudden death.

The Adams duo held a two-shot leading heading into the final round but became a little nervous throughout the day when their fellow competitors started to come on strong.  Brenny carded seven birdies on the day for her team and the Raleigh couple felt like their Asheville counterparts were on the ropes and that they would finally take home the trophy.

Unfortunately fate had another plan and the two teams would find themselves tied after the final hole of regulation play.  In the end, the Adams duo made birdie on the second play-off hole and will maintain their championship title for the third straight year.

This is a four-ball stroke play championship where teams are comprised of a male and a female.  Teams were placed into flights for the final round.  The third and fourth flight played a shorter course.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.

3RD CAROLINAS MIXED TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP SET FOR TIGER'S EYE GOLF LINKS, AUG. 30-31

WEST END, NC (8/22/08) - A field of 46 teams, including two-time defending champions Anthony and Debbie Adams of Asheville, NC, has entered the third Carolinas Mixed Team Championship, which will be played August 30-31 at Ocean Ridge Plantation's Tiger's Eye course near Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

The Carolinas Golf Association event for teams consisting of a male and female golfer is a 36-hole four-ball stroke play competition, with the field divided into flights by gross score after the first round.

The teams will compete on the par-72, Tim Cate-designed Tiger's Eye Course. The men will play from tees measuring 6,509 yards, while the ladies' course will cover 5,361 yards.

This is the third straight year that Ocean Ridge Plantation has hosted the event. In 2006, when it was played on the development's Panther's Run course, the husband-wife Adamses shot 67-67--134 to win by one stroke over Kevin Atamian and Katie Brenny of Raleigh. Last year on Ocean Ridge's Lion's Paw links, the Adamses shot 62-65--127 to beat Atamian-Brenny by seven strokes. This year's event was originally scheduled for the Lion's Paw course, but due to a change in the maintenance schedule at Ocean Ridge, it was moved to Tiger's Eye.

Although this is only the third Carolinas Mixed Team Championship, a similar competition had been conducted by the CGA in past years under the group's One-Day Tournament program.
