Uly Grisette Wins 15th North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship by Six Strokes

Greensboro, NC -- Final round results of the 15th North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship hosted by Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC on Sunday, September 14, 2008.  Par 35-36--71, 6906 yards.

Uly Grisette (204) of Clemmons, NC fired a final round five-under par 66 to win the championship by six strokes over Scott Harvey (210) of Greensboro, NC.

Grisette, a 42-year-old sales manager for robotic automation sensors, traded the lead throughout the front nine and found himself one stoke behind Harvey at the turn. Harvey playing in the group ahead of Grisette made bogey on the 10th hole while Grisette made a birdie thus springing him into the lead for good. A back-nine five-under par 31 vaulted his lead to six strokes in the end.

Grisette recently regained his amateur status back in July.

"I was not playing much golf as a professional and I was actually moonlighting playing in pro events in addition to my job", stated Grisette. Now having regained his amateur status he noted that, "I really like playing on the weekends and look forward to having the opportunity to compete in amateur competitions".

Second round co-leader Chris Dalrymple of Pinehurst, NC faltered with a final round 77 to finish in a tie for 10th.

Defending champion Gary Robinson of Fayetteville, NC shot a final round 79 and finished in a tie for 46th.

The North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship is open to male North Carolina residents over the age of 30 with a 5.4 handicap index who are members of a CGA member club.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
