Patty Moore Adds to Trophy Case With Win at 5th North Carolina Women's Senior

Final round results of the 5th North Carolina Women’s Senior
Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Lake Hickory Country
Club (Catawba Springs: Dogwood-Fox Run) in Hickory, NC on Tuesday, October 7,
2008 (5516 yards, par 36-36—72).
Patty Moore of
Charlotte wins her second North Carolina Women’s Senior title after a final
round even par 72 to finish six strokes ahead of Melissa Sage of Charlotte.
Moore, the 2007 Carolinas Women’s and Senior Women’s player of the year, was the
only player to break par during the championship.
Clate Aydlett
of Elizabeth City garnered to Super Senior title with a two-day total of 164.
Defending
champion Pat Brogden of Garner withdrew due to an injury during the second
round.
Players were
flighted based upon round one scores for the final round.
The North
Carolina Women’s Senior Championship is open to female golfers age 50 and over
who are residents of North Carolina and a member of a CGA member club.
This
championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.

N.C. WOMEN'S SENIOR, OCT. 6-7
WEST END, NC (10/5/08) - All four past champions, including 2007 winner Pat
Brogden, are entered in the 5th N.C. Women's Senior Championship of the
Carolinas Golf Association, which will be played October 6-7 at Lake Hickory
Country Club in Hickory, NC.
The 36-hole tournament will be staged at the club's Catawba Springs location,
which has 27 holes designed by architect Willard Byrd. The seniors will play on
the Dogwood and Fox Run nines.
In 2007 at Greensboro Country Club's Farm Course, Brogden shot 75-74--149 to win
by five strokes over Kathy Bounds of Cary, NC. Dianne Yelovich of Pinehurst, the
2005 winner, finished in third place. Besides Brogden and Yelovich, this year's
field of 45 golfers also includes 2004 winner Patty Moore of Charlotte, who has
won multiple Player of the Year honors, and 2006 champion Melissa Sage of
Charlotte. Also in the field is Bounds, who not only was runnerup in 2007, but
also finished second in 2006.
Of the 45 entries, 19 will compete in the Championship Tees division on a par-72
course measuring 5,521 yards. The others will play in the Tournament Tees
division, with the course measuring 5,122 yards. Super Senior prizes (ages 65
and over) will be awarded in the Tournament Tees division.
This will be the second CGA major championship hosted by Lake Hickory Country
Club, the first being the 2002 Carolinas Senior.

FORMAT
The championship is contested at 36 holes of stroke play with a championship
division and tournament division (shorter course).
Players are flighted by gross score after the first round.
Players have the option to compete in either the Championship division or
tournament division. Tournament division golfers play a shorter course and are
ineligible for the overall championship.
ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to any female amateur golfer who has reached her 50th birthday by
the first day of the championship, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a
member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf
Association (CGA) and has a current USGA handicap index at a CGA member club.

PRIZES
Prizes and merchandise are awarded to the overall champion.
Merchandise is awarded to gross winners in each flight. A tie for the overall
champion is decided by an on-course play-off.
Ties for trophies and merchandise in each division are broken by a scorecard
play-off. Ties for merchandise only are split. Prizes for Super Senior players
(age 65+) will be awarded in the tournament division.
