Carolina Golf Club Captures 32 Carolinas Pro-Amateur Club Championship Rock Hill, SC—Carolina Golf Club in Charlotte, NC, represented by head professional Jeffrey Peck and amateur Justin Gupton, captured the 32nd Carolinas Pro-Amateur Club Championship title by firing a nine under par 63 at Rock Hill CC in Rock Hill, SC. The winning team’s round included eight birdies, an eagle and only one bogey on the 6700 par 72 course. Both players commented that they “brother-in-lawed” it all day covering for each other when one the other was in trouble. Finishing in second place and two shots back with a seven under par round of 65 were Bob Desjardins and Jeff Avant, representing Rolling Hills CC in Monroe, NC. Three shots back at six under par 66 in third place were James Watkins and Jamie Johnson representing National GC in Pinehurst. This annual championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.

A tie for the overall championship is decided by an on-course playoff. All other ties are split ELIGIBILITY: Entry is open to any team comprised of a male golf professional who is a member of the club’s golf professional staff employed by a Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) Member Club and a male amateur golfer who is a member in good standing of the same CGA Member Club. The amateur partner must be a legal resident of one of the Carolinas and have a current USGA handicap index® at the same CGA member club. SCHEDULE: Starting times on April 7 begin at 8:00 a.m. on 1st tee. FIELD: 42 professionals, 42 amateurs PRIZES: Permanent trophy is displayed at the winning team's club until the next championship. ALAMANCE COUNTRY CLUB WINS 31st CAROLINAS PRO-AMATEUR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP CONOVER, NC – Final results of the 31st Carolinas Pro-Amateur Club Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Rock Barn Golf and Country Club in Conover, NC on Monday, April 9, 2007. The championship was played at the club’s Jones Course (6998 yards, par 36-36—72). The Burlington, NC based Alamance Country Club team of Adam McLaughlin and Richard Hogan fired a seven-under par 65 to win the championship by two-strokes. This is Alamance’s first Carolinas Pro-Amateur title. McLaughlin, 26, carded six birdies for the Alamance Country Club duo while Hogan, a 56 year-old dentist, threw in two birdies of his own. The only miscue was a bogey on the par-4 fifth hole. “We both putted very well today and Adam played exceptionally well with his six birdies,” stated Hogan. Finishing in a five-way tie for second place with a five-under par 67 was Green River Country Club in Chesterfield, SC, High Point Country Club in High Point, NC, Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, SC, Boone Golf Club, Boone, NC and Cleghorn Plantation Golf Club in Rutherfordton, NC. This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association. |
