Final results of the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying hosted by Forest Creek GC, South Course, in Pinehurst, NC on Monday, June 9, 2008. Par 36-36-72, 6600 yards.
N.C. State University’s own Lauren Doughtie of Suffolk, VA shot at 36-hole total 5-under par--139 to take medalist honors at the U.S. Women’s Open Sectional in Pinehurst, NC. Players faced tough and hot conditions as temperatures soared well over 100 degrees throughout the day. Doughtie earned her way into sectionals by advancing through the local phase that was held at Pinewild Country Club’s Magnolia course in Pinehurst, NC back in May. Ironically, Doughtie also earned the top spot at that qualifier as well.
The top five players advance onto the U.S. Women’s Open Championship at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, MN on June 26-29.
