RiverTowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, SC on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 (6185
yards, par 36-36—72, Rating: 69.7/124).
Reigning North Carolina Super Senior Champion, Larry Boswell of Jamestown,
NC, carded a one-under par 71—137 to win by three strokes over John DeLuise of
Raleigh, NC.
The victory gives Boswell his 12th CGA championship title: South Carolina
Amateur Match Play (1978), Carolinas Mid-Amateur (1981, 82, 83, 87, 89),
Carolinas Senior (1998), Carolinas Senior Four-Ball (2002, 03), North Carolina
Senior Four-Ball (2002), North Carolina Super Senior (2008).
“It’s nice to play in a tournament that Paul Simson is not eligible for”,
Boswell said jokingly during the awards ceremony.
Boswell’s solid final round included two birdies, one bogey and 15 pars
including pars on every hole on the back nine.
Only Boswell and DeLuise were able to break par on the beautiful Arnold
Palmer layout for 36-holes.
The top 30 scores received merchandise. Unredeemed certificates will remain
at RiverTowne Country Club. Players may call the club to redeem certificates.
The Carolinas Super Senior Championship is open to males who are residents of
either North Carolina or South Carolina, who are at least 65 years old and have
a maximum 15.4 handicap index at a CGA member club.
This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is
celebrating its 100th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
