Your entry for the 95th Carolinas Amateur Championship has been received and accepted. We look forward to seeing you at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, SC. The dates of the tournament are July 8-12, 2009. Because there is no formal check-in at CGA Championships, please read the following information carefully.
Practice Round: You are entitled to one complimentary practice round on July 7 or when times are available the week prior. The course is closed on Monday. You must call the club in advance to secure a practice round tee time and it would help if you contact other contestants and make your own game before calling. Do not show up without a tee time and expect to be accommodated. The club will begin accepting practice round tee time reservations on June 30. Play will be from the back tees.
Championship Format and Capers Cup Club Team Competition: Championship format is 36 holes of stroke play to determine 32 qualifiers for match play. The defending champion is seeded number one for match play if otherwise eligible. A team competition is held in conjunction with stroke play qualifying. Three or four competitors from the same club comprise a team. The lowest three scores count each round. When more than four competitors from the same club are in the field, the lowest handicap indexes are used to determine the team unless the CGA is otherwise informed.
CGA Policies: By local rule, the Carolinas Golf Association will allow the use of electronic measuring devices at this tournament. Devices that have other built in functions (elevation, compass, temperature, wind etc.) will not be allowed even if those functions can be turned off. Cell phones and all other electronic devices will not be allowed during play. This includes devices with headphones.
Cart/Caddie/Spectator Policy: During the play of a hole, either the player or his caddie may ride in a golf cart but not both at the same time. Spectators are not allowed to ride in a player’s golf cart at any time. Club owned spectator carts are not allowed.
Carts/Range Fee: Cart rental is optional for qualifying rounds. The rate is $20 per round. There will be one-time $10 range fee for players who opt to walk. Pull Carts: Private pull carts are not allowed. The club does not have rental pull-carts available. Cart rental for the match-play portion of the tournament will be paid by the Carolinas Golf Association.
Accepted Forms of Payment: The club accepts cash or check only for cart rental,. cash only for food and beverage and cash, check, MasterCard, Visa and Discover for golf shop merchandise.
Tee Times: Times will be available on July 2 by calling the CGA. You can also find times and other tournament information on the CGA web site. www.carolinasgolf.org.
Club Rules: The club does not allow traditional metal spikes and their policy will be enforced during practice and tournament rounds. SOFT SPIKES ONLY. The penalty for non-compliance is DQ. Shirts must have collars (Mock turtle neck golf shirts are allowed), shorts must be Bermuda length (Cargo type not allowed) and no denim is allowed. The dress code also applies to caddies and spectators. Private coolers are not allowed. Cell phone use in the clubhouse is NOT allowed.
