5th Dogwood State Junior Championship

Tournament Information

 

Host Professional:             Ken Guilford, PGA

 

Format:                                  54-holes of stroke play (27-holes for Boys 11 and under division).  Each division will be cut in half after 2 rounds (Boys 11 and under division will not be cut and will play all 3 days).

 

Practice round:                   A complimentary practice round will be available at Cabarrus CC on Monday, August 3, 2009.  Contestants must call the golf shop to schedule a practice round starting time.  Players may call up to seven days in advance.  Please identify yourself as a Dogwood State Junior participant when calling. 

 

Starting times:                    Starting times will be available through the CGA office and/or the carolinasgolf.org web site after 12 noon on July 29, 2009.  Please do not call before this date.

 

Yardages:                             Boys’ 14-18 divisions: approx. 6900 yards, par 72 (club blue tees)

                                                Girls’ division: approx. 5900 yards, par 72 (club white tees)

Boys’ 12-13 division: approx. 5880 yards, par 72 (club white tees)

11 and under division: 5200 yards.  (Red tees)

 

Prizes:                                   Trophies will be awarded to the champions, runner-up in each division.

 

Caddies:                                Players must walk at all times, but may use a caddy.  Caddy must be 18 years of age or younger, no exceptions.  Caddies must walk at all times as well.

 

Measuring devices:           Devices that measure distance only may be used during this championship.

 

Spectator carts:                 Spectator carts will NOT be available.  No exceptions.

Method of payments:         Cabarrus CC accepts cash only for food and beverage.

 

Dress code:                         No metal or ceramic spikes.

Hats/visors must be worn with brim forward and must be removed while indoors.

Collared shirts or mock turtlenecks must be worn and tucked in at all times.

 

Player Registration:           All players are asked to register at Cabarrus CC on Monday, August 3rd from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

 

Hotel:                                     The Wingate Hotel by Wyndham in Concord is offering a rate of $89 plus tax per night for reservations made by August 3, 2009.  Please identify yourself with the Carolinas Golf Association when making reservation.

 

Junior Teams:                     The overall boys’ champion will be invited to compete on the Carolinas Boys’ Junior team in 2010.  The overall girls’ champion will be invited to represent the Carolinas in the Mid-Atlantic Challenge in 2010.

 

Rankings:                             This is a boys TYGA rankings event that has been assigned a multiplier of 7. 

 

Parent policy:                      Parents are encouraged to follow their child.  We do ask that all parents remain on the cart path (roughs if no cart paths), unless assisting with the search for a ball.

 

Withdraws:                          If you cannot compete in this championship, you must withdraw from the event by contacting the CGA office at 910-673-1000 prior to round 1.  If you do not withdraw properly, you are considered a "no show" and you will be suspended from CGA events for 1 year.
