Tournament Information

Format:                                  Championship conducted in match play.  An 18-hole stroke play qualifier will determine the flights and seedings for the championship.  Defending champion, Haley Stephens of Greer, SC will be seeded #1 in the championship flight.  The championship flight will be made up of the top 15 players from the stroke play qualifier.  All flights will have 8 players in each flight.  A tie for the 15th seed in the championship flight will be decided by an on course playoff.  All other flight ties for the last spot will be determined by using the USGA recommended playoff system.  Sub juniors will play a 9-hole stroke play qualifier to determine their match play seeding and will play 9-hole matches.

 

Practice round:                   A practice round will be available at Furman GC on Monday, June 29th.  Contestants must call the golf shop to schedule a practice round starting time. Please identify yourself as a Carolinas Junior Girls' Championship participant when calling.  Players may call for practice round starting times beginning on June 22nd.  The practice round fee will be $20.00 including range balls if you choose to walk.  If you would like to take a cart the practice round fee will be $30.00 including range balls.

 

Starting times:                    Starting times will be available on June 25, 2009 after 5:00pm through the carolinasgolf.org web site or by calling the CGA office.

 

Yardages:                             Approx. 5941 yards, par 36-36-72.

                                                Sub juniors will play approx. 5280 yards (lavender tees).

 

Prizes:                                   Trophies will be awarded to the champion, runner-up in the championship flight, the champion and runner-up in all other flights, the winner and runner-up of the championship consolation flight and winner of all other flight consolation flights.  Trophies will also be awarded to the medalist and most improved player from the stroke play qualifying for each division.

Caddies:                                Players must walk at all times, but may use a caddie.  Caddie must be 18 years of age or younger, no exceptions.  Caddies must walk at all times.

 

Measuring devices:           Measuring devices that only measure distance may be used during the championship.

 

Spectator carts:                 Spectator carts will be available to rent for $15.00.  All carts are restricted to the cart path.

Dress code:                         Full details  Failure to adhere to the CGA dress code will result in disqualification and may lead to being suspended from CGA events for 1 year.  Dress code also includes all parents and spectators.

 

Hotel:                                     The Hampton Inn, Travelers Rest (2 miles from club) is offering a rate of $92.00 plus tax per night.  Players must call by June 21, 2009 to receive the discounted rate.  Please mention the Carolinas Golf Association to receive the special rate.

 

Junior Teams:                     The overall champion and runner-up will be invited to represent the CGA in the Mid-Atlantic Challenge Girls’ Team matches at Mid Pines Resort in Southern Pines, NC on August 1-2, 2009. 

 

Rankings:                             This is a girls’ TYGA rankings event that has been assigned a multiplier of 8. 

                                                This is a girls’ SCJGA rankings event that has been assigned a multiplier of 7.

 

Parent policy:                      Parents are encouraged to follow their child.  We do ask that all parents remain on the cart path, unless assisting with the search for a ball.

 

Withdraws:                          If you cannot compete in this championship, you must withdraw from the event by contacting the CGA office at 910-673-1000 prior to the first round.  If you do not withdraw properly, you are considered a "no show" and may be suspended from CGA events for 1 year.

1:00pm – 5:00pm                                Player Registration – NO MEETING.

7:00pm                                  Golf shop and practice facilities close.

 

Tuesday, June 30

8:00am                                  First Round Begins, #1 and #10 tee.

10:15am                (approx.)               First Round – Sub-Junior division, #10 tee.

Wednesday, July 1
