Your entry into the 37th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship at Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, SC on June 17-21, 2009 has been received and accepted. Please review the following information since there is no formal championship registration at Oldfield Golf Club. Remember that we are guests of the club and we need to conduct ourselves in a proper manner. Also, make sure to take care of any appropriate fees in the golf shop prior to each round and be at your assigned tee ready to play a few minutes before your tee time. Dress Code/Coolers: Shirts must have a collar (mock neck is OK if 1 ½ inches in height), no denim, spikeless shoes. No personal coolers.
Starting times for June 17-18 will be available beginning Wednesday, June 10. Check the CGA website at www.carolinasgolf.org, call the CGA office or Oldfield GC golf shop. Tee times are an 8:00am single tee start on June 17-18. The official starting clock is located on the 1st tee.
You are entitled to one practice round on June 16 when tee times are available. You may call the Oldfield Golf Club golf shop beginning June 2 to schedule a practice round. Make sure to identify yourself as a South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship participant. It would be helpful if you make your own game before calling. There is a mandatory $20.00 cart/range fee for the practice round. Cart/range fee for stroke play qualifying rounds is $20.00 per round. Contestants may choose to walk during stroke play qualifying rounds but are subject to a $5.00 daily range fee. The club will collect cart and range fees for stroke play qualifying rounds on June 17. Make sure to check-in with the golf shop and pay your cart fees. Failure to pay cart and range fees may result in disqualification from the championship or rejection from future CGA events. The CGA will pay all cart and range fees for match play rounds. Personal pull-carts are allowed.
Caddies are permitted but during the play of a hole, either the player or his caddie may ride in a golf cart but not both at the same time. Spectators are not allowed to ride in a player’s golf cart at any time. Club owned spectator carts are not allowed.

Host hotel is the Hampton Inn & Suites - Bluffton (843-705-9000). Hotel is 5 miles from Oldfield Golf Club. Hotel serves complimentary breakfast and offers high-speed Internet access. Please identify yourself with the CGA - Carolinas Golf Association to receive the discounted rate of $99.00 + tax for standard room or $109.00 + tax for king studio suites. Hotel room block is held until June 5. Rooms will be subject to availability and standard rates after the cut-off date.
Championship Format and Team Competition
Championship format is 36 holes of stroke play to determine 32 qualifiers for match play. The defending champion is seeded number one for match play if otherwise eligible. A team competition is held in conjunction with stroke play qualifying. Three or four competitors from the same club comprise a team. The lowest three scores count each round. When more than four competitors from the same club are in the field, the lowest handicap indexes are used to determine the team unless the CGA is otherwise informed.
Championship Schedule
Tuesday, June 16 Course available for practice rounds.
Wednesday, June 17 First round: 18 holes of stroke play. (8:00am single tee)
Thursday, June 18 Second round: 18 holes of stroke play (8:00am single tee). Field cut to low 32 qualifiers for match play.
Friday, June 19 First and second rounds of match play (18 holes each round).
Saturday, June 20 Quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of match play (18 holes each round).
Sunday, June 21 Championship match (18 holes).
To Oldfield: I-95 Exit 8 (Hwy 278). Take Hwy 278E towards Hilton Head. Take Hwy 170 towards Beaufort. Oldfield is 4 miles on right.
To Hampton Inn from Oldfield: Turn left out of club main entrance onto Hwy 170. Take Hwy 278W towards I-95, Hampton Inn located ½ mile on left.
Oldfield Golf Club is a spikeless facility. The penalty for non-compliance is disqualification. Except for emergencies, use of cell phones during play is prohibited. Any player who is discovered taking more than 40 seconds to play a stroke is subject to a warning. In stroke play qualifying, a second violation will result in a one-stroke penalty; third violation will result in a two-stroke penalty followed by disqualification. In match play, a second violation is loss of hole, third violation is loss of hole followed by disqualification. Local rule allowing the use of conforming distance measuring devices will be in effect.
