Starting Time
Please check the enclosed pairing
sheet for your starting time on Tuesday, August 4. Play will
begin from the 1st and 10th tees
beginning at 8:00am. Remember that sectional qualifying is 36
holes, that you must walk in all phases of the championship and
that you are responsible for providing your own caddie/cart
driver. Caddies will NOT be available at Oak Valley GC. Players
must walk at all times during the qualifying round. You may
carry your own bag or have a caddie during the qualifying round.
Caddies will be allowed to rent a cart for the qualifying round
at this site. However, caddies may have to share carts during
the qualifying round with no more than two carts allowed per
group.
18-Hole Cut
After the first round, the field
will be cut to the low 30% of scores and anyone
within 8 strokes of the lead. The field will be
re-paired according to score for the final round on Wednesday,
August 5. Final round is an 8:00am double tee.
USGA Policies
The USGA prohibits the use of
cellular phones during qualifying and championship rounds.
Also, the USGA does not allow spectator carts during qualifying
rounds or the championship proper. Traditional metal spikes are
not allowed at Oak Valley GC. The penalty for non-compliance is
disqualification. The "One-Ball" rule will be in effect. The use
of distance measuring devices during qualifying and championship
rounds is prohibited.

Locker Room: Players will have
access to the men's locker room.
Dress Code: Shirts must have
collars, shorts are allowed but must be Bermuda length, and no
denim. Policy is for both players and caddie/cart drivers.
Practice Round/Cart Fees/Food and
Beverage
You are entitled to one
complimentary practice round (not including mandatory $20.00
cart/range fee) from July 29-August 3 when tee times are
available. You may call the Oak Valley GC golf shop beginning
July 28 to schedule a practice round tee time. Make sure to
identify yourself as a U.S. Amateur Championship qualifying
participant. It would be helpful if you make your own game
before calling. Play the Black tees during your practice
round except play the Blue tee on hole #6. There is a
mandatory $20.00 cart/range fee for the practice round.
Cart fee for caddies/cart drivers on August 4-5 is $20.00 and
includes range fee. Otherwise there is a $5.00 daily range fee
for players on August 4-5. Make sure to check-in with the
golf shop when you arrive and pay your appropriate fees!
Any player failing to pay appropriate cart and range fees will
not be allowed to start play. Oak Valley Golf Club
accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Cash for
cart/range fees, golf shop purchases, and food and beverage. The
club’s snack bar will be available for service.

Lodging is available at the
Holiday Inn Express-Clemmons (336-778-1500), Super 8-Clemmons
(336-778-0931) or the Hampton Inn-Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem
(336-760-1660).
Qualifying Spots
The number of qualifying and
alternate positions has yet to be determined. The number of
qualifying spots will be updated on the CGA web site at
www.carolinasgolf.org. An on-course playoff will be used to
determine final qualifying or alternate positions. Players are
responsible for making themselves available.
Qualifying Schedule
Monday, August 3
Course open for
practice. Must call in advance for tee time.
Tuesday, August 4
Round 1: 18 holes of
stroke play. Cut to low 30% and anyone within 8 strokes.
Wednesday, August 5
Final round: 18 holes
of stroke play. Playoffs for qualifying spots and alternates
immediately following play.
Directions to Oak Valley Golf
Club
From Winston-Salem: I-40 west to
Exit 180 (Hwy 801). Take Hwy 801 south towards Advance. Club is
2 miles on right.
Pace of Play Policy
A player who
is discovered taking more than 40 seconds is subject to a
warning and will be so advised. The player will be notified
that exceeding 40 seconds on one more occasion will result in a
penalty of one stroke. A third violation will result in a two
stroke penalty, followed by disqualification. A player’s time to
play begins when he has had a reasonable opportunity to reach
his ball and when it is the player’s turn to play and can do so
without interference or distraction. Penalties are applied
individually, but more than one competitor in a group may be
penalized.
