Starting Time

Please check the enclosed pairing sheet for your starting time on Tuesday, September 1.  Play will begin from the 1^st and 10^th tees beginning at 8:00am. Remember that sectional qualifying is 18 holes, that you must walk in all phases of the championship and that you are responsible for providing your own caddie/cart driver.  Caddies will NOT be available at River Run CC. Players must walk at all times during the qualifying round. You may carry your own bag or have a caddie during the qualifying round. Caddies will be allowed to rent a cart for the qualifying round at this site. However, caddies may have to share carts during the qualifying round with no more than two carts allowed per group. Personal pull-carts are NOT allowed.

USGA Policies

The USGA prohibits the use of cellular phones during qualifying and championship rounds.  Also, the USGA does not allow spectator carts during qualifying rounds or the championship proper. Traditional metal spikes are not allowed at River Run CC.  The penalty for non-compliance is disqualification. The "One-Ball" rule will be in effect. The use of distance measuring devices during qualifying and championship rounds is prohibited.

Course Rating from Qualifier Tees: 74.6/141 (7,076 yards, par 72)

Dress Code: Shirts must have collars, shorts are allowed but must be Bermuda length, and no denim. Policy is for both players and caddie/cart drivers.

Practice Round/Cart Fees/Food and Beverage

You are entitled to one practice round (not including mandatory $20.00 cart/range fee) on Monday, August 31. You may call the River Run CC golf shop beginning August 25 to schedule a practice round tee time. Make sure to identify yourself as a U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship qualifying participant. It would be helpful if you make your own game before calling. There is a mandatory $20.00 cart/range fee for the practice round. Cart fee for caddies/cart drivers on September 1 is $20.00 and includes range fee. Otherwise there is a $5.00 range fee for players on September 1. Make sure to check-in with the golf shop when you arrive and pay your appropriate fees! Any player failing to pay appropriate cart and range fees will not be allowed to start play. River Run CC accepts MasterCard, Visa, and Cash for cart/range fees, golf shop purchases, and food and beverage. The club’s snack bar will be available for service.

Lodging

Lodging is available at the Hampton Inn-Cornelius/I-77/Lake Norman (704-892-9900) at the rate of $89.00 + tax. The Hampton Inn is approximately 15 minutes from River Run CC. Identify yourself as a US Mid-Amateur contestant to receive the discounted rate.

Qualifying Spots

The number of qualifying positions has yet to be determined. The number of qualifying spots will be updated on the CGA web site at www.carolinasgolf.org. An on-course playoff will be used to determine final qualifying or alternate positions. Players are responsible for making themselves available.

Qualifying Schedule

Monday, August 31            Course open for practice. Must call in advance for tee time.

Tuesday, September 1      Qualifying Round: 18 holes of stroke play. Playoffs for qualifying spots and alternates immediately following play.

Directions to River Run Country Club and Hampton Inn

River Run: From I-77 take Exit 25 (Hwy 73/Sam Furr Road). Go east on Hwy 73 for 3 miles. Turn left on Davidson-Concord Road. Club entrance is ¾ mile on right. Follow signs to clubhouse.

Hampton Inn: From River Run CC left out of club entrance onto Davidson-Concord Road. Proceed to Hwy 73. Turn right onto Hwy 73. Go 3 miles. Turn right onto Statesville Road (last road before I-77). Hotel is 2 miles on left.

Pace of Play Policy

A player who is discovered taking more than 40 seconds is subject to a warning and will be so advised.  The player will be notified that exceeding 40 seconds on one more occasion will result in a penalty of one stroke.  A third violation will result in a two stroke penalty, followed by disqualification. A player’s time to play begins when he has had a reasonable opportunity to reach his ball and when it is the player’s turn to play and can do so without interference or distraction.  Penalties are applied individually, but more than one competitor in a group may be penalized.
