Championship Player Information

Your application for entry into the 32nd Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball Championship at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club, in Southern Pines, NC on August 11-12 has been received and accepted. Please review the following championship information.

Please note that there is no official registration at CGA events.  Please check in with the golf shop to pay your appropriate fees during your practice round.  Cart/range fees for championship rounds have been included in your entry fee.

·         Starting Times

Starting times for August 11th will be available on Friday, August 7 after 5:00pm.  Check the CGA web site at www.carolinasgolf.org, call the CGA office or the Mid Pines golf shop.  Wednesday, August 12th will be an 8:30am shot-gun start.

·         Practice Round

You are entitled to one complimentary practice round on Monday, August 10th. You may call the Mid Pines golf shop to schedule a practice round beginning anytime. Make sure to identify yourself as a Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball Championship participant. It would be helpful if you make your own game before calling.

There is a mandatory $25 golf/range fee for the practice round. Cart use is mandatory throughout this championship. See the championship itinerary for specific championship yardages. Players have been pre-flighted based on total team handicap index by adding 2/3 of the lower handicap index to 1/3 of the higher handicap index. Flights 1 and 2 play the championship tees.  Flights 3 and 4 play the tournament tees (shorter course).  Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club accepts Cash or Visa/MasterCard for golf shop purchases and food and beverage purchases.

·         Lodging

Championship headquarters will be the Mid Pines Inn.  Rooms are $130 per room per night.  Mention the Carolina’s Golf Association tournament to receive the special rate.  Call 910-692-2114 to make reservations.  Mid Pines is kind enough to offer their course for our championship and we ask that you support their hotel.

·         Championship Format

The championship is conducted at 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. The field will be pre-flighted by total team handicap index. Team handicap index is computed by adding 2/3 of the lower handicap index to 1/3 of the higher handicap index. Flights 1 and 2 play the championship tees.  Flights 3 and 4 play the tournament tees (shorter course).

·         Spike Policy

Mid Pines is a spikeless facility. The penalty for non-compliance is disqualification.

·         Slow Play

Any player who is discovered taking more than 40 seconds to play a stroke is subject to a warning for slow play and will be advised of the fact.  The player will be notified that exceeding 40 seconds on one more occasion will result in a penalty of one stroke.  A third violation will result in a two-stroke penalty, followed by disqualification.

·         Cell Phones

Except for medical emergencies, use of cell phones during play is prohibited.

Monday, August 10

8:00am - On                Course Open for Practice Rounds.

Tuesday, August 11

7:00am                        Practice facilities and golf shop open.

8:00am                        First round. #1 and #10 tee.

6:30pm                        Practice facilities and golf shop close.

Wednesday, August 12

7:00am                        Practice facilities and golf shop open.

8:30am                        Final Round.  Shot-Gun start for all players.

1:00pm (approx.)        Awards luncheon in clubhouse following play.
