Round 1 Stroke Play Qualifying Results
Okatie, SC – First round results of the 37th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, SC on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 (6906 yards, par 36-36—72, Rating: 73.8/139).
Robert Godfrey of Seneca, SC fired a five-under par 67 to lead by one stroke after the first round of stroke play qualifying. Godfrey, the 1999 South Carolina Amateur Match Play champion, carded four birdies and an eagle versus one bogey in his round.
After 36 holes of stroke play qualifying the field will be cut to the low 31 players plus the defending champion, Tripp McAllister of Lake City, SC for the match play portion of the championship that begins on Friday.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is celebrating its 100th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
