Quarterfinal and Semifinal Results

Okatie, SC — Quarterfinal and semifinal round match play results of the 37th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, SC on Saturday, June 20, 2009. (6906 yards, Par 36-36—72).

Crawford Reeves, 18, of Greenville and Jarrett Grimes, 36, of Columbia will face each other in the finals of the 37th South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship.

Reeves, the 2007 and 2008 South Carolina Junior Match Play champion, defeated Mitchell Gray of Florence 2 and 1 in the morning quarterfinals and then beat fellow Clemson University teammate McCuen Elmore of Cheraw in the semifinals by a 5 and 4 score.

Grimes, the reigning Carolinas Mid-Amateur champion, beat two-time S.C. Amateur Match Play champion Todd White of Moore, 2 and 1, in the quarterfinals and then was pushed all the way to the 18^th hole by Rob Simmons of Beaufort in the semifinals that concluded with a 1 up win.

The championship match begins on Sunday morning at 8:30am at Oldfield.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is celebrating its 100^th year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
