TAELOR RUBIN WINS 44TH TWIN STATES JUNIOR GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP

Blythewood, SC (7/28/10) -- Taelor Rubin of Raleigh, NC led wire-to-wire to take home her fist ever major championship trophy.  Rubin, 17, shot a final round 73 to finish with a one-under par 143 for the championship.

Rubin's game plan was to just play the course and never let herself venture away from trying to stay in the moment.  "I was pretty nervous today but I played very steady,"  Rubin said.

When asked what this win means to her she said, "Oh my gosh, it's just awesome.  I have never won any tournament before never mind a one of the biggest girls' championships in the Carolinas.  I feel amazing!"

Rubin joins the ranks of players like Beth Daniel, Page Marsh and others who has won this championship before.  Rubin will be on a high as she goes to Charlotte, NC in a few weeks to play in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at Charlotte Country Club.

Players were placed into flights for the final round.

In the sub-junior division Anna Eddy of Hilton Head, SC fired a 43-44--87 to take first place honors.  This division plays a shorter course and nine holes each day.  "This is my favorite tournament of the year and I am so happy I won," said 11 year old Eddy.

This annual championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which has been serving amateur golf in the Carolinas since 1909.  For more information and history of the Twin States Junior Girls' Championship visit:  http://www.carolinasgolf.org/tourn/2010/yearbook/twinstates.pdf
