33rd South Carolinas Junior Match Play Championship

Player Information

 

Host Professional:              Matt McCarley

 

Format:                                  18 holes stroke play qualifying for all divisions.  The boys' 14-18 division will be cut to the low 63 for match play.  Defending champion Parker Allen will be the #1 seed.  The girls’ division will be cut to the low 15 for match play.  Defending champion Elizabeth Thompson will be the #1 seed.  The boys’ 13 and under division will be cut to the low 16 for match play (9 hole matches, except 18 holes for championship match).

 

Practice round:                    A complimentary practice round will be available at Camden CC from June 7 – July 5 when space is available.  Contestants must call the golf shop to schedule a practice round starting time.  Please identify yourself as a South Carolina Junior Match Play participant when calling. 

 

Starting times:                     Starting times will be available through the CGA office and/or the carolinasgolf.org web site on July 2, 2010.  Please do not call before this date. 

 

Yardages:                              Boys’ 14-18 division: approx. 6,300 yards, par 70. Print scorecard (PDF)

Prizes:                                   Trophies will be awarded to the champions, runner-up, semi-finalists and qualifying medalist in each division.

 

Contestants:                        Boys’ 14-18             Girls’        Boys’ 13 and Under

 

Caddies:                                Players must walk at all times, but may use a caddy.  Caddy must be 18 years of age or younger, no exceptions.  Caddies must walk at all times as well.

 

Measuring devices:            Devices that measure distance only may be used during this championship.

 

Spectator carts:                   Spectator carts will be available to rent at a rate of $20 per person.  Carts must remain on path at all times.

Method of payments:         Camden CC accepts cash, MasterCard and Visa for food and beverage and spectator cart rentals.

 

Dress code:                          No metal or ceramic spikes.

Hats/visors must be worn with brim forward and must be removed while indoors.

Collared shirts or mock turtlenecks must be worn and tucked in at all times.

Women’s fashion shirts without a collar must have sleeves.

Women’s fashion shirts must not rise above the belt line at anytime during the golf swing.

Shorts must be no more than 5” above the knee.

 

Player Registration:            All players must register at Camden CC on Monday, July 5th from 6:30 p.m. - 6:50 p.m.

 

Rules meeting:                    There will be a mandatory players’ meeting on Monday, July 5th at 7:00 p.m. at Camden CC. 

All players are required to attend!   

 

Junior Teams:                      The girls’ champion will be invited to represent the Carolinas in the Mid-Atlantic Girls’ Team Matches at Independence GC in Richmond, VA on July 31 – August 1, 2010.  The champion in the boys’ 14-18 division will be invited to represent the Carolinas in the Carolinas-Virginias junior team matches at CC of Landfall in Wilmington, NC on August 14 – 15, 2010.

 

Hotel:                                      The Holiday Inn Express in Camden is offering a nightly rate of $94.95 (plus tax) for reservations made by June 21, 2010.  Please identify yourself with the Carolinas Golf Association when making reservations.  Please call the hotel direct at (803) 424-5000.

 

Parent policy:                       Parents are encouraged to follow their child.  We do ask that all parents remain on the cart path (roughs if no cart paths), unless assisting with the search for a ball.

 

Withdraws:                           If you cannot compete in this championship, you must withdraw from the event by contacting the CGA office at 910-673-1000 prior to round 1.  If you do not withdraw properly, you are considered a "no show" and you will be suspended from CGA events for 1 year.
