Your application for entry into the 13th Carolinas Women’s Match Play Championship at Cowans Ford CC, in Stanley, NC on July 6-8 has been received and accepted. Please review the following championship information.

Please note that there is no official registration at CGA events.  Please check in with the golf shop to pay your appropriate fees. 

·          Starting Times

Starting times for July 6th will be available on Thursday, July 1 after 5:00pm.  Check the CGA web site at www.carolinasgolf.org, call the CGA office or the Cowans Ford CC golf shop.

·          Practice Round

You are entitled to one complimentary practice round on Monday, July 5. You may call the Cowans Ford CC golf shop to schedule a practice round beginning Monday, June 21. Make sure to identify yourself as a Carolinas Women’s Match Play Championship participant. It would be helpful if you make your own game before calling.

There is a mandatory $25 golf/range fee for the practice round. Cart/range fee for each championship round is $25. Cart fee is mandatory for the practice round only. Players may walk during championship rounds, but will still be subject to a $5 range fee.

Players will be placed into two divisions.  The championship division will compete from the championship tees and the tournament division will compete from a shorter set of tees.  You can check your division status at http://www.carolinasgolf.org/tourn/2010/info/wommatch.htm when available after the close of entries.

All players will stoke play qualify on Tuesday to determine your seeding and specific flight.  The top 16 players will comprise the championship flight and compete for the overall championship. The next 16 players will comprise the first and second flight and stay at the championship tees.  The remaining players will be moved up into the tournament tee division for the match play portion of the championship and play a shorter set of tees.  The defending champion Eleana Collins of Pinehurst, NC is automatically seeded number one for match play.  Check the championship itinerary for specific yardages to play during your practice round.

Cowans Ford CC accepts all major credit/debit cards ONLY for golf shop purchases and CASH/credit card only for food and beverage purchases.  No cash in the golf shop can be accepted.

·          Lodging

Championship headquarters will be the Holiday Inn Express, Huntersville. A special rate of $85 has been arranged.  There are numerous restaurants surrounding this hotel.   The Holiday Inn, Huntersville is located off I-77 at exit 25. Hotel is approximately 12 minutes from Cowans Ford CC.  You must mention the CGA or Carolinas Golf Association to receive the discounted rate.

·          Championship Format

Championship will be conducted at Match Play.   The championship flight will be comprised of 16 players.  All other flights will be determined based upon the total number of entries and will play from a specific set of tees. See the enclosed list to see which division you will be competing in.

·          Spike Policy

Cowans Ford Country Club is a spikeless facility. The penalty for non-compliance is disqualification.

·          Slow Play

Any player who is discovered taking more than 40 seconds to play a stroke is subject to a warning for slow play and will be advised of the fact.  The player will be notified that exceeding 40 seconds on one more occasion will result in a penalty of one stroke.  A third violation will result in a two-stroke penalty, followed by disqualification.

·          Cell Phones

Except for medical emergencies, use of cell phones during play is prohibited.   Call me at the CGA office if you have any questions or e-mail me. Good luck!

Monday, July 5

11:00am - On              Course Open for Practice Rounds.

Tuesday, July 6

7:30am                        Practice facilities and golf shop open.

8:00am                        Stroke Play Qualifying Round, #1 tee.

7:00pm                        Practice facilities and golf shop close.

Wednesday, July 7

7:30am                        Practice facilities and golf shop open.

8:00am                        First Round of Match Play for all flights, Morning Wave. #1 tee.

12:30pm                      Second Round of Match Play for Afternoon Wave. #1 and #10 tee.

7:00pm                        Practice facilities and golf shop close.

- Pay-out championship flight after each match is completed.

- Call the Cowans Ford CC golf shop (704-827-3219) for final round starting times.

Thursday, July 8

7:30am                        Practice facilities and golf shop open.

8:00am                        Semi-Final Round and Consolation Matches. #1 tee.

12:00pm (approx.)      Final Round Championship Match.  #1 tee.

- Awards Ceremony immediately following completion of play.

- Pay-out championship and all other flights following completion of play.

Food and Beverage Information

Food and Beverage items will be available throughout the championship

CASH and credit cards may be used for food and beverage purchases and all major credit cards for Golf Shop purchases.
