Greensboro, NC—Number one ranked Katherine Perry of Cary lived up to the hype winning the NC Junior Girls’ Championship defeating Andrea Robbins of Pleasant Garden, 2 up in the championship match; but it wasn’t easy. Fighting a balky putter, Perry battled Robbins all the way to the 18^th hole were a two putt par sealed the match and the title as the best junior girls’ golfer in North Carolina. Robbins, a rising high school senior, reached the final match defeating Evelyn Dole of Cary 6 and 5 in their morning’s semifinals match. Perry reached the finals after defeating Madison Kennedy of Salisbury 5 and 4 in the other semifinals match.

In the boys’ championship, Carter Page of Waynesville defeated Will Long of Gastonia 1 up in the championship match. Page, a rising high school junior, played flawless golf missing only two greens in the championship match. Long battled Page all match and pushed the match to the eighteenth hole were his fifteen foot birdie putt lipped out leaving Page to only two putt from ten feet to secure the championship match and the title of NC Junior Boys’ champion.

This annual junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
