First Round Results and Round 2 Starting Times

Charlotte, NC - First round results of the North Carolina Women's Senior Amateur Championship hosted by Cedarwood Country Club on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Par 37-35-72, 5414 yards.

Pat Brogden of Garner, NC fired an even par round of 72 to take the lead of the 7th North Carolina Women's Senior Amateur Championship by three strokes over Maggie Weder of Greenville, NC and local favorite, Melissa Sage of Charlotte, NC. Garner, a retired school teacher who plays left-handed and cross-handed, carded two birdies on and was hoping for a sub-par finish but a few bogeys brought her back to even par. "I played alright today but I definitely left some out there," Brogden said. Brogden will face tough competition from Maggie Weder of Greenville, NC and defending champion, Melissa Sage of Charlotte, NC. Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC is currently tied for 10th place.

In the tournament tee division, Carter MacBain of Charlotte, NC fired a 76 to take the lead by four strokes over three other players. This division plays a shorter course.

Players will begin with an 8:45am shot-gun start on Wednesday.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 101st year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
