Williams/Hudson Win the 14th Carolinas Pro-Junior
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 19, 2019) – Final results of the 14th Carolinas Pro-Junior Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. on August 19, 2019.

These are just a few of the names to win a championship on the prestigious Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. Now you can add Mark Williams of Trent Woods, N.C. and Randall Hudson of New Bern, N.C. after their victory at the 14th Carolinas Pro-Junior Championship.
“It's pretty awesome,” said Hudson. “I've been here a couple times to watch the PGA Championship and the Wells Fargo Championship. So, it was really cool to play it and see what the players are looking at when they play. It's a lot tighter than you realize but it was a lot of fun.”
Williams and Hudson fired a 9-under-par, 63 on Monday to win the championship by two shots over a fierce field of competitors. To make the win even more impressive, the duo was able to win even after a bogey on their starting hole, the par-4, second hole of Quail Hollow Club.
“We had a little saying the whole time saying we were going to keep the pedal down,” Said Williams. “That first hole we made bogey but we never got flustered. We came back and birdied the next hole.”
Not only did they birdie the next hole, but Hudson rolled in an eagle on the par-5, seventh hole. On the back nine, the two combined for a total of nine birdies to shoot 6-under-par, 30. They closed out their round with a birdie on the par-5, first hole.
The Pro-Junior Championship pairs a golf professional along with a junior member from their club to compete against other teams from around the Carolinas. Williams and Hudson represent New Bern Golf & Country Club in New Bern, N.C.
“We had a little pressure on us because we had a lot of people back home expecting us to win,” said Williams. “Doing what people were actually expecting us to do was really cool to see it through. We didn't win it just for us. We won it for everyone back at New Bern Golf and Country Club.”
Four teams finished tied for second place at 7-under-par, 65. Trey Scruggs and Max Cranford of Hickory, N.C. represented Catawba Country Club. Marcy Newton of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Grady Newton of Wallburg, N.C. represented Jamestown Park. Todd Nalette of Fort Mill, S.C. and Tate Smith of Gastonia, N.C. represented Gaston Country Club. Johnson Wagner and Graham Wagner of Charlotte, N.C. represented the host course, Quail Hollow Club.
