Three CGA Alumnae Selected for Palmer Cup

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (April 1, 2020) -- Three CGA alumnae including Gina Kim, Rachel Kuehn and Emilia Migliaccio, have been selected to represent the United States in the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup. Dan Brooks, the Duke women's golf head coach and one of this year's Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame inductees, will lead the U.S. squad.

All three women have had outstanding amateur golf careers that include CGA championship wins and player of the year honors.

Kim, the reigning Carolinas Women's Player of the Year, was part of the 2019 NCAA Championship winning Duke women's golf team under Brooks. Most notably, she finished tied for 12th place at the 2019 U.S. Women's Open earning low-amateur honors. Kim is also the 2014 and 2016 N.C. Junior Girls’ Player of the Year.

Kuehn is the 2017 N.C. Junior Girls’ Player of the Year, the 2017 Carolinas Women's Amateur champion and the 2018 Vicki DiSantis Junior Girls' champion. She joined the Wake Forest women's golf team this fall and soon thereafter took home her first collegiate title at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. As a freshman, she finished the shortened college season ranked third overall in the GolfStat NCAA Division-I Rankings.

This is Migliaccio third time being named to the Arnold Palmer Cup team. She’s only the second American to achieve this honor. Last year in her sophomore season, she captured three victories including the ACC Individual Title. Before the suspension of the 2019-2020 NCAA season, she took home the individual title at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. She’s currently ranked fifth in the women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings and sixth in the GolfStat NCAA Division-I Rankings. Migliaccio is the 2013 N.C. Junior Girls’ Player of the Year.

The Arnold Palmer Cup is slated for July 3-5, 2020 at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland. According to the Palmer Cup website, it is not certain whether the event will be held as scheduled, postponed, or canceled.

"With the pandemic affecting so many lives around the globe, there are certainly more pressing issues than golf. However, we would like to recognize the accomplishments of these college golfers since last summer and during this college season," according to Palmer Cup officials.
