Greenville, SC -- Corrine Carr of Pinehurst, NC captures her
first WCGA Women's Amateur Championship title by an
impressive twelve shot margin over Laura Wearn of Charlotte,
NC.
Carr, the only player in the field to shoot under par each day,
carded four birdies in a row on the back nine.  When asked
what this win meant to her Carr smiled and said, "This is a nice
win for me.  I played pretty steady all week and just stayed
patient.  I made a lot of putts all week which helped me go low."
Fellow competitor and runner-up, Laura Wearn of Charlotte,
NC said that Carr was hitting every fairway and every green in
regulation which led to her steady play.  "When we were all in
the rough Corrine would just hit it down the fairway and onto
the green and always have a putt at birdie," Wearn said.
Diane Yelovich of Pinehurst, NC captured the overall senior
title.
In the Carolinas tees division, Carole Jones of Hillsborough, NC
was the overall champion as well as the Super Senior
champion over Susan Harden of Beaufort, SC.
This division plays a shorter course.  Players were placed into
flights within their division for the final round.
