Myrtle Beach, SC- Michael Sims of Campobello birdied six of last eight holes Thursday afternoon to defeat John Assey of Mt. Pleasant by a 4 and 2 margin in the final match of the 21st South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship at Myrtlewood

Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, SC. Sims managed birdies on nine, eleven, twelve, thirteen, and fifteen and was given a two-footer on sixteen to close out the match.

Earlier in the day Sims defeated Max Jordan of York 2&1 and Assey bested Matthew Hendrix of Aiken 1up to reach the final.

In the 13 and under division Josh Hackler of Myrtle Beach defeated Alex Sturgis of Rock Hill 2&1 to win his age division.

By reaching the final match, Sims and Assey automatically qualify for the Carolinas Junior Team which will take on a team from the Virginias August 15-16 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
