2007 Senior Four-Ball One-Day Tournament Policies

Eligibility

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the tournament date, is a legal resident of one of the Carolinas, is a member of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association, and has a current USGA handicap index at a CGA member club. A player with more than one handicap index must use the lowest current index. Entries are subject to rejection at any time including during the event, by the CGA or by the club hosting the tournament.

Rules

USGA Rules of Golf govern play. Tournament format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, both gross and net. According to USGA handicap procedures, 90 percent of a player's course handicap is used to determine net scores. Course handicaps are limited to 18 strokes. If the difference between the partner's course handicaps exceeds eight strokes, then an additional 10 percent reduction is applied to both team members. Teams are pre-flighted according to total team course handicap. Partner substitutions made within five days of the tournament date must be approved in advance by the CGA office. Any on-site partner substitutions may result in the new partner playing at scratch and the team competing within the same flight. Competitors must subscribe to all host club restrictions concerning dress, coolers, etc. Cart rental and use is mandatory for tournament rounds. Practice rounds are not available. Metal and ceramic spikes are prohibited. Competitors may check tournament information at www.carolinasgolf.org. Scores made in four-ball events must be posted to an individual's handicap as a tournament score.

Entry Information

Entry forms are accumulated for the entire Open/Close window. Open/Close dates and online tournament registration are available at www.carolinasgolf.org. Tournament fields are selected using a "blind draw" method. Only eight teams from the host club are accepted unless the field is not filled. Fax, e-mail, telephone, late or incomplete entries are not accepted. The $125 entry fee must accompany this form. Entry fee includes cart and range fees. Only one check per tournament entry. Make check payable to the Carolinas Golf Association. Confirmation of acceptance is sent to the applicant. A $20 administrative fee is deducted from all refunds. Refunds are not made after entries close except in the case of player illness, player injury or death in the family. When tournaments are scheduled on consecutive days, priority in acceptance is given to those who enter both events. Teams must submit a separate entry form for each tournament.

Double Tournaments

At select sites denoted on the tournament schedule, two separate tournaments (AM and PM) will be conducted at the same site on the same date. No special tee time requests will be accepted.

Prizes and Merchandise

Merchandise will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place overall gross scores and for low net scores in all three flights. Merchandise certificates are redeemable only at the host club's golf shop. Ties for 1st and 2nd place gross, 1st net or a prize less than $25 are broken using the USGA recommended method.
