Former East Carolina University standout Eric Brady of Cary fired a seven-under par 65 to take a one shot lead after the first round of the North Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship. Brady carded six birdies and an eagle versus one bogey in his round.

After one round of the 65^th Carolinas Junior Boys Championship hosted by Camden Country Club in Camden, SC only three players of the 130 man field managed to score under the par for the day. Christian Baliker of Simpsonville, SC fired a two under par 68, which included six birdies. “I putted the ball really well. After the first round of the 58^th Carolinas Junior Girls’ Championship, Jessica Spicer of Bahama, NC and Kendall Dobbins of Summerfield, NC are a top of the leader board following round of three over par 75.  Spicer and Dobbins, both rising high school juniors, have a one shot advantage over Alaina Yeatts of Durham, NC and Amy Wooten of Clinton, NC.

Entries for the 2014 North Carolina Senior Four-Ball Championship will now close on Tuesday, August 5 .  The championship will be hosted by Greenville Country Club in Greenville, NC from August 12-14.
